No Decrease Seen In Nuclear Threat

A Swedish study says the global threat posed by nuclear weapons remains high, Agence France-Presse reports.

Nearly 2,000 of more than 5,000 deployed weapons worldwide are kept in a state of high alert, according to a study by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

As of January, Britain, China, France, India, Israel, Pakistan, Russia and the U.S. possessed more than 20,500 nuclear warheads, says SIPRI.
