South African prosecutors on Monday charged a former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) with Friday's car bomb attacks in Nigeria's capital of Abuja, the BBC reports.
Henry Okah was arrested Saturday in Johannesburg, said officials. He has denied involvement in the blasts that killed at least 12 people.
Okah's group is believed to have split from MEND last year when the movement signed an amnesty agreement with the government.
