Nigerian-Led Regional Fight Against Boko Haram Gets Promise Of Aid From U.S.

The U.S. has promised to contribute US$5 million for the Multinational Joint Task Force to take on the Boko Haram terrorist group in Nigeria, reports the News Agency of Nigeria.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. assistant secretary for African Affairs, announced the pledge on Monday during a telephone news briefing from the African Union Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The call was made to the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, where the summit was monitored.
