A Nigerian army general has been named as the next commander of peacekeeping forces with the U.N. Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), reports the Daily Champion (Lagos).
Maj. Gen. Moses Bisong Obi will succeed Nepalese Maj. Gen. Paban Jung Thapa on May 22.
Obi is currently the head of training and operations at the Nigerian army headquarters in Abuja. He has also commanded the army's 1 Division.
