The U.S. Air Force is ready to launch the first Boeing-manufactured Global Positioning System 2F satellite into orbit on May 20, the Air Force Times reports.
The next-generation satellites, which have similar cores to the Boeing GPS 2A satellites launched in the 1990s, will result in modest improvements to the system's sub-meter positioning accuracy, said Col. Dave Madden, commander of the Air Force's GPS wing.
