Newly Opened Coast Guard Facility Built With $14 Million From U.S.

The coast guard in the republic of Georgia has opened a new boat basin built with U.S. financial assistance in Batumi on the Black Sea, reports Civil Georgia.

Officially opened on Thursday, the US$14 million facility provides docking space for up to 15 vessels at the same time.

The boat base will enhance the coast guard's ability to rapidly respond to threats in the nation's coastal waters, according to a release from the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi.
