New U.S. Marine General Takes Over Afghan Operations

During a change-of-command ceremony on Monday, the I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), out of Camp Pendleton, Calif., took over command of Marine forces in Afghanistan from Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan (MEB-A), the Marine Corps Times reports.
Maj. Gen. Richard Mills, commander of I MEF, will lead Marine operations in Helmand and Kandahar this summer, said Corps officials. He is also in charge of a new, larger headquarters element in Afghanistan.
