Sweden has decided to acquire a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for its armed forces, reports defense-aerospace.com.
Forces based at Karlsborg have operated the French-built Owl ("Ugglam") since 1999. The medium-sized tactical UAV is designed to deliver real-time intelligence to forces on the ground.
The system is considered inefficient by many Swedish officials, and the government is seeking a system that can stay in the air for longer with fewer resources.
