Oman has a new Sultan days after long-serving ruler Qaboos bin Said Al Said died, reports BBC News. Qaboos died on Jan. 10, and Haitham bin Tariq al Said, his cousin, was sworn in as his successor on Jan. 12. The former sultan had no sons or brothers, leaving Oman without a formal successor at the time of his death.
