New Semi-Submersible Joins South China Sea Fleet

China's navy fleet in the South China Sea has taken delivery of a semi-submersible vessel, reports Reuters.

The ship, which bears the number 868, is the first of its type to join the South China Fleet, reported state television on Friday.

Chinese television said the ship can be used to transport small vessels and as a temporary repair dock.

It can conduct large-scale landings in the event of conflict in the Taiwan Strait and as a mobile base in the South China Sea, said...
