New Zealand has adopted new acquisitions rules across government that favor broader benefits to society over cost, reports Australian Defence Magazine.
Beginning in October, all government procurement agencies must consider benefits to society, the environment and economy in addition to overall lifecycle costs.
The rules encourage procurement on the basis of the best outcome for society proportionate to the value, risk and complexity of the purchase.
