About one-fifth of U.S. Air Force personnel failed new physical fitness standards in July, the first month the standards were used, the Stars & Stripes reports.
The 6,000 airmen who failed -- out of 30,000 active-duty, Guard and Reserve personnel -- have 90 days to try again, said officials.
Air Force officials warned in May that as many as 33 percent could fail the test, extrapolating from an internal audit.
