New President Intends To 'Start Over' With Fighter Jet Deal

New Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has decided to put off awarding a multi-billion dollar fighter jet contract to re-evaluate the bids, Reuters reports.

Former Presdient Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva repeatedly expressed his preference for Dassault's bid. He left office without resolving the issue.

The contract, valued at over US$4 billion, covers for 36 fighters for Brazil's air force.

Bidders, in addition to Dassault's Rafale, are the Saab Gripen NG and Boeing's F/A-18. ...
