New Patrol Ship Being Readied In U.S. Security Effort

The Lebanese navy should have better ability to patrol its coastline by the end of this year or shortly thereafter.
The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded a contract for the construction of a coastal security craft for Lebanon, reports the Dept. of Defense.
The US$29 million deal with Maritime Security Strategies, Tampa, Fla., covers the production of a 138-foot (42-m) patrol boat, associated equipment, materiel, training and technical services.
