New Navy Commander Ready To Assume Duties

The Sri Lankan navy is about to have a new commander, reports the Daily Mirror (Sri Lanka).

On Saturday, newly promoted Vice Adm. C.W.A.S. Dissanayake will replace Adm. Thisara Samarasinghe, whose term has ended after 18 months.

Samarasinghe has been nominated as the high commissioner to Australia.

Dissanayake is the most decorated naval officer in Sri Lankan history, having led operations against the Tamil Tigers during the culmination of the conflict.
