New Naval Station In Karnatka Will Serve As Home For Much Of Western Fleet

A new naval base has been commissioned in southwest India, reports India's NDTV television network.
Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar presided over the ceremony opening the INS Vajrakosh on Wednesday near Karwar in the state of Karnatka.
Combined with INS Kadamba, another naval station about 20 km (12 mi) away, the facility is the world's largest naval base east of the Suez Canal.
