The Afghan government has reached an agreement with NATO officials to develop plans for a new international peacekeeping mission after 2014 when Afghan officials will be responsible for the nation's security, reports RIA Novosti.
The proposed NATO-led mission would provide training and other assistance to Afghan security forces, said Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the NATO secretary-general.
The alliance will also provide about US$4.1 billion annually to fund the mission, he said.
