The first commander of the new Global Strike Command at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., is passing the reins this week to his successor, reports the Shreveport (La.) Times.
Lt. Gen. Frank Klotz is preparing to retire after a 38-year Air Force career. He is being replaced by Lt. Gen. Jim Kowalski, who led the unit during its provisional stages at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.
