Indian Defense Minister A.K. Antony announced plans Wednesday to make a significant increase in the size of the coast guard to improve maritime surveillance and security, reports Sify News (India).
An additional 3,000 positions will be added to the service as its role is being enlarged following the Bombay (Mumbai) terrorist attacks last November, Antony said.
The coast guard is also acquiring 20 fast patrol vessels, 41 interceptor boats, 12 Dornier coastal surveillance...
