Afghanistan has a controversial new defense minister, reports the Khaama Press (Afghanistan).
On Dec. 29, Asadullah Khalid, who was appointed by President Ashraf Ghani on Dec. 23, formally assumed his new post.
During his introductory speech, Khalid vowed to support the peace process with militants groups, increase training for Afghan troops, improve battlefield first aid and improve coordination among security forces.
