New Defense Chief, Army Head To Assume Posts In Mid-August

The Singapore armed forces will soon have a new defense chief, reports the Singapore Ministry of Defense.
Maj. Gen. Perry Lim Cheng Yeow, the army chief, will assume the defense chief post on Aug. 18. He will succeed Lt. Gen. Ng Chee Meng.
Brig. Gen. Melvyn Ong Su Kiat, the chief guards officer, will succeed Lim as the head of the army on Aug. 14, the ministry said on Friday.
Ng has led the Singapore military since March 2013, while Lim has served as army chief since March...
