New Commander Takes Over UNIFIL's German Contingent

The German contingent of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has a new commander, the Daily Star (Beirut) reports.
Commander Johannes Schmidt-Thomee took command of the 300-strong naval contingent from outgoing Commander Martin Kubel in a Monday ceremony in Beirut.
Berlin provides two nautical minesweepers and a distribution frigate to the United Nations Maritime Taskforce (MTF), which operates a total of eight warships.
