New Commander Takes Over In Kandahar

The new commander of Canadian forces in Afghanistan has arrived in Kandahar to assume his duties, reports the Canwest News Service.

Brig. Gen. Jon Vance replaced Brig. Gen. Daniel Menard, who was relieved a week earlier for alleged misconduct with a female soldier under his command.

Vance commanded Task Force Kandahar last year and will lead the upcoming planned coalition offensives against the Taliban in Kandahar province in the nation's south.
