New Commander Due For U.S. Naval Forces In Persian Gulf

Rear Adm. Mark Fox will assume command of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain later this month, reports the Gulf News (United Arab Emirates).

Fox will replace Vice Adm. William Gortney, who has been nominated to serve as the director of the Joint Staff in the Pentagon.

The new commander is a former naval aviator with flying time in the A-7E Corsair II and F/A-18 Hornet, including combat operations off Lebanon and Libya, over the Balkans and Iraq.
