New Command May Coordinate Regional Units

The Japanese Defense Ministry is considering establishing the Ground Defense Command to coordinate the operations of regional Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) units, though without taking overall command, reports the Kyodo News Agency.
The potential change may be included in the new National Defense Program Guidelines that are expected to be adopted at a Cabinet meeting on Dec. 10.
Officials said the proposal is intended to boost operational coordination within the GSDF....
