New Carrier Strike Group Stands Up

The U.S. Navy has just established a new carrier strike group in San Diego, reports the Navy NewsStand.
The flagship of Carrier Strike Group 1 (CSG-1) will be USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), which is currently homeported in Newport News, Va.
Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17), Destroyer Squadron 1 (DESRON 1), and the Ticonderoga-class cruisers USS Bunker Hill (CG-52) and USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) will join the new unit.
