New Cargo Ships To Carry Names Of Explorers, Pioneers

The U.S. Navy has announced the names for the next four Lewis and Clark-class cargo ships, reports the Dept. of Defense.
The ships will be named Matthew Perry (T-AKE 9), Charles Drew (T-AKE 10), Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11) and William McLean (T-AKE 12).
Commodore Matthew Perry led a squadron of ships to Japan in 1853 in an effort to launch trade relations with that country.
