New Attack Boat To Be Named For Father Of Nuclear Navy

The U.S. Navy has announced the name for its next Virginia-class attack submarine, reports the Dept. of Defense.

The Hyman G. Rickover (SSN-795) honors the Navy admiral generally credited with developing the Nautilus (SSN-571), the world's first operational nuclear-powered submarine.

The announcement made Friday comes as the Navy is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Nautilus' first voyage under nuclear power, noted USNI News.
