New Army Commander Named

Col. Artur Tiganik has been appointed as the next commander of the army by Estonian Defense Minister Urmas Reinsalu, reports Estonian Public Radio.
Tiganik will assume his new duties on July 20.
He succeeds Col. Indrek Sirel, who will serve as head of the Allied Joint Force Command Headquarters Brunssum in the Netherlands, according to a ministry release.
The colonel has served as army chief of staff since 2009.
