New Army Command Center Has Border Focus

The Thai army has opened a new command center at the headquarters of the 1st Army Region, reports the Bangkok Post.

The 1st Army Area Command is responsible for Bangkok and Thailand's central provinces, including parts of the Thai borders with Burma and Cambodia.

The new post is expected to help commanders respond effectively to potential crises on either border, as well as deal with internal problems, said an unnamed military source.
