New Army Chief Begins Duties As Predecessor Prepares To Move Up

The Singapore army has gained a new leader following a change-of-command ceremony, reports the Singapore Ministry of Defense.

Brig. Gen. Melvyn Ong Su Kiat took over from Maj. Gen. Perry Lim Cheng Yeow on Friday at Pasir Laba camp.

Lim has been named as the next defense chief.

Ong has held a number of posts, including commander of the 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade and head of the Joint Plans and Transformation Dept. He also led Singapore's contingent for disaster-relief...
