The South Korean Defense Ministry has nominated Lt. Gen. Sung Il Hwan as the next air force chief of staff, reports the Korea Herald.
The current air force chief, Park Jong Heon, is leaving the post after about two years.
Sung has headed the Air Force Education and Training Command and served as superintendent of the Air Force Academy.
The Cabinet is expected to favorably review the nomination on Tuesday, to be followed by the approval of the president.
