The Indian navy is set to open a new air base in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the eastern Bay of Bengal later this month, reports Asian News International (New Delhi).
Indian Naval Air Station (INAS) Kohasa near Diglipur, formerly known as INS Shivpur, is scheduled to be inaugurated on Jan 24, a navy official told ANI.
INAS Kohasa can handle helicopters and small transport aircraft, as well as provide landing facilities for pilots operating in the 1,000-mile (1,610-km)...
