After hosting more than 1,000 nuclear weapons tests, the Nevada Test Site has a new name.
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) announced the new name Monday for its test site northwest of Las Vegas.
The Nevada National Security Site has been used for nuclear testing for 60 years. The new designation better reflects the nuclear, energy and homeland security activities that take place at the site, said Thomas D'Agostino, the head of the NNSA.
