A senior Russian commander says almost a third of the latest batch of conscripts were considered too sick to serve and were sent home, Agence France-Presse reports.
The soldiers became ill due to their commanders' failure to "ensure the protection of the servicemen's life and health," said a statement from the general prosecutor's office.
Meanwhile, reports emerged that 63 soldiers were hospitalized with pneumonia, and a recruit died in the service near the Ural region city...
