Taliban militants have taken control of a district in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province, reports the Khaama Press (Afghanistan).
The Nawzad district, whose population is largely Pashtun, fell to Taliban fighters on Wednesday after days of fighting, said local lawmakers.
At least eight Afghan soldiers and four police officers were killed during the fighting, according to security officials.
