The Australian navy has confined its Kanimbla-class amphibious ships to base, reports the Australian Dept. of Defense.
Vice Adm. Russ Crane, the navy chief, ordered the operational pause after receiving information on platform seaworthiness and risks from operations from the independent Landing Platform Amphibious (LPA) Seaworthiness Board.
The decision to keep both ships in port is precautionary, Crane said.
