Navy's Electromagnetic Launch Catapults Super Hornet In Test

The U.S. Navy has successfully catapulted a jet into the air with its electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS), reports the Naval Air Systems Command.
The service launched an F/A-18E Super Hornet last Saturday using EMALS technology at its test site in Lakehurst, N.J., at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
The system is expected to be used to replace steam catapults on the new Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carriers.
