Navy Wraps Up Counter-Piracy Mission Near Somalia

A Thai navy task force has completed its participation in anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden, reports the Bangkok Post.

The frigate Pattani and supply ship Similan are scheduled to arrive back in Thailand on Jan. 20, said the navy.

The navy said it considered the four-month mission a success, despite the fact that 27 Thais remain captives of pirates following a hijacking on Dec. 24 of the MV Thor Nexus.
