A U.S. Navy F/A-18 fighter jet has crashed in California, but the pilot safely ejected and parachuted to the ground, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The aircraft went down Monday afternoon in a field south of Naval Air Station Lemoore during a traning mission.
The pilot was unharmed and released, according to the CO at Lemoore, reported UPI.
The airfield resumed operations in the evening, said police.
An investigation has been opened into the crash.
