Navy Set To Receive Pohang-Class Corvette From S. Korea; Manila To Pay Token US$100 Fee

The Philippine Dept. of National Defense says it has sent a letter of intent to South Korea to acquire a single Pohang-class corvette, reports the Manila Bulletin.
Manila will pay a nominal US$100 for the ship, which is effectively being donated by Seoul, noted Reuters.
The navy hopes to receive the ship later this year, said a Defense Dept. spokesman.
The cost of the refurbishing is unknown, the spokesman said.
