The Iranian navy plans to send warships to the Atlantic Ocean early this year, reports the Islamic Republic News Agency (Tehran).
The flotilla will depart for the Atlantic in March, with the mission expected to last about five months, Adm. Touraj Hassani, the deputy chief of the navy, told IRNA on Jan. 4.
The Sahand, the navy’s newly commissioned Jamaran-class destroyer, will be among the ships deployed, Hassani said.
