Huntington Ingalls Industries, headquartered in Newport News, Va., appears likely to miss a U.S. Navy goal of reduced labor hours on the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy, reports Bloomberg News, citing internal service documents.
With 34 percent of construction complete, the shipbuilder has estimated that it will be able to reduce labor hours by 16 percent from the lead ship in the class, the Gerald R. Ford, according to Navy documents obtained by the news service.
