Navy To Receive New Frigates Ahead Of Schedule

Philippine navy officials say two frigates ordered from South Korea will be handed over sooner than initially planned, reports the Philippine News Agency.

Vice Adm. Robert Empedrad, the navy chief, said on Monday that Hyundai Heavy Industries had pledged to deliver the Jose Rizal (FF-150) and Antonio Luna (FF-151) in April and September of 2020.

The Jose Rizal was previously scheduled for delivery by September 2020, with Antonio Luna to follow by 2021.
