Navy Plans Upgrades To Extend Life Of Victoria-Class Subs

The Canadian Dept. of National Defense wants to extend the service lives of its aging Victoria-class submarines, reports the Canadian Press.
Officials are working on details to make sure the four submarines, which are currently scheduled to retire between 2022 and 2027, continue to operate into the 2030s, Vice Adm. Ron Lloyd, the navy chief, told the news agency.
Minor upgrading is expected to begin in March, with more extensive work to start in three to four years, Lloyd said.
