Navy Places Advance Procurement Contract For Another Amphibious Ship

Northrop Grumman has received a U.S. Navy order for long-lead materials for the next landing platform dock in the San Antonio class, reports the defense firm.
The $62 million contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command covers advanced procurement of main engines, diesel generators, electrical switchboards, deck equipment and fire-extinguishing systems for the unnamed 11th ship in the class, LPD-27.
Work will take place at Northrop's Pascagoula, Miss., facilities.
