The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract to build an additional Freedom-class littoral combat ship, reports the defense firm.
The LCS-31, the 16th ship of the class, will be built at the Fincantieri Marinette Marine facility in Marinette, Wis., said a company release on Monday.
The Navy awarded the contract under the fiscal 2019 budget on Jan. 15.
The value of the deal is considered source-selection sensitive information and was not made public, said a Pentagon release....
