The French navy has signed a contract with naval defense company DCNS for three more FREMM multimission frigates, bringing France's total order to 11 ships, Defense News reports.
Two of the new warships will be in the air defense version, with the third equipped for anti-submarine warfare, a DCNS spokesman said.
Under the contract, all ships in the series will also receive upgraded sensors for air, surface and undersea detection.
