Navy, Marines Opt For Osprey Tiltrotor To Handle Carrier Delivery

The U.S. Navy has chosen the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft to replace the C-2A Greyhound as its next carrier onboard delivery (COD) platform, reports USNI News, citing a service memo.
The memorandum of understanding, dated Jan. 5 and signed by Adm. Jonathan Greenert, the chief of naval operations, Marine Commandant Gen. Joseph Dunford and Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, indicates that the Navy will buy four V-22s starting in fiscal 2018 to 2020, according to Breaking Defense.
