The Russian navy has launched its newest modernized Oscar II-class nuclear-powered guided-missile submarine, reports Interfax-AVN (Russia).
The Belgorod was put into the water on Tuesday during a ceremony at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk, reported the Tass news agency (Moscow).
The submarine is the first to be able to carry the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead with a yield of up to 2 megatons.
